Our Story Begins in 1993
Founded on the spirit of adventure and family, Kitepower began its journey in Geelong/Djilang, Victoria, a place deeply rooted in Wathaurong Country. Our founders, Steve McCormack, Julie Nagorcka, and Peace McCormack, along with Julie's son, Goshen Watts, initially sparked their passion for kites in 1991, selling, repairing, and flying kites throughout Geelong and as far as South Australia and also QLD and NSW..
From our first retail location, now a fond memory, we have grown and relocated to the vibrant community of Sans Souci/Sydney/Bediagal Clan Country. Here, alongside our thriving online store, we continue to celebrate and share the joy of kites and kiteboarding with enthusiasts across the nation and beyond.
Our Passion for Kite Flying
At Kitepower, our heart lies in promoting the sheer joy and numerous health benefits of kite flying. From the simple delights of single-line kites for children to the adrenaline-packed world of kitesurfing, hydrofoiling, and Wing foiling, our aim has always been to enrich lives through this ever evolving sport.
Throughout the years, Kitepower has been a proud founder and supporter of various kite organizations, such as the Australian Kite Society, Kiteboarding Australia, and many more, fostering a strong community of kite enthusiasts.

"Kite flying brings a unique sense of joy and transformation," shares Steve, our founder. The name 'Kitepower' reflects the profound impact kiting has had on my life and the lives of many others. From my first exhilarating experience with a stunt kite back in 1991 to the countless individuals I've seen inspired by the sport, kiting is not just a hobby—it's a lifestyle and often a lifelong escape to get outdoors and play with the wind.
