Kite foil boards are lightweight and compact because the rider has the power of a kite on tap to propel them. In fact, high volume or flotation can make it quite difficult to water start so a kite foil board tends to be "sinker" style board where you can partially submerge the board as you dive to the kite to get speed and then lift from your attached hydrofoil.
