Our school closes from May 1st through to September 30th. This is because winds drop away in Autumn and turn offshore making conditions unsuitable for lessons.
Our lessons are taught one-on-one, meaning the lesson is completely customised and catered to the student. We endeavour to get the student on the water independently as quickly as possible.
Kitepower is proud of our 20 years of dedication to safe kiting. We are one of the few schools in New South Wales accredited by Kiteboarding Australia. This means we teach to the highest possible standard, allowing the student to learn our amazing sport with confidence.
We utilise both radio helmets and can offer boat support to give the best experience possible.
Kitepower offers a range of lesson-and-gear deals to get you started in the sport more cost-effectively. See our Lesson and Beginner Gear Packages here.
We highly recommend students spend 10 to 15 hours flying a trainer kite before taking their first lesson (see instructional video here). This ensures the student gets the most out of their private lesson to progress in a quicker and cost-effective manner.
Trainer kites are available for purchase, or are available for hire at $50 per week.
On the day of the first lesson please come to the Kitepower shop 20 minutes before your lesson start time to sign a lesson waiver form and meet the team.
All lessons are conducted at Monterey Beach which is a 3-minute drive up the road from our shop, opposite the Just Hooked fish & chip shop (map route here). Look for our Kitepower flags near the beach.
Your instructor will confirm if your lesson will proceed with you on the day. NE or SE winds above 10 knots, but less than 30 knots are required.
